Researching family history is my hobby. The research is fascinating and I love navigating the labyrinth. This site is broken up into 4 main sections: Bohnsack, Davis, Lightcap and Strelesky, which are the last names of my grandparents.This is another way for me – hopefully – to make connections with people who are researching the same families and share information. This site is a lot of work, so it helps to know it makes a difference.My research is focused on ancestors from England and Germany who settled in the Midwest, primarily in Jo Daviess county, Illinois; Dubuque county, Iowa; Morrow, Wood and Seneca counties, Ohio; and Starke and Boone counties, Indiana. Besides those names previously mentioned, family names include Bausman, Blewett, Deininger, Giffin, Firestone, Hebenstreit, Herod, Sanders, Uhlrich and Wulff.
My great-grandmother, Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman, left slew of photos, identified and unidentified. Since the unknown photos will not magically identify themselves sitting in my closet, I’ve posted them – perhaps you’ll recognize someone!
There are cemetery photos. In addition, I have begun to add cemetery records to FindAGrave.com.
The majority of my information is on Ancestry.com. While Ancestry is excellent, a paid subscription is required to take complete advantage of it. I have several family trees posted, but my main tree is called “Lightcap-Davis Tree”.
