Iva (Bausman) Leverton Killed in Car Accident

Iva (Bausman) Leverton Car Accident

Because of a reader's response on a previous post, I remembered an article I read about the death of Iva (Bausman) Leverton. It was found in the genealogy files belonging to Gertrude (Bausman) Schoenhard, a cousin of Iva's and my maternal grandfather's aunt.  The accident sounds pretty horrific. There is no citation to the article. God Made a Farmer

The Home Place

When I was young, my parents and grandparents listened to Paul Harvey. I enjoyed listening to his stories and I can still hear his voice signing off with the words "Paul Harvey.... Good day." While watching the Super Bowl, it was Dodge Ram's commercial with pictures of the American farmer and a story told by Paul Harvey that captured my attention. Reminded me of my grandparents and the long, hard hours and commitment it takes to farm. http://youtu.be/AMpZ0TGjbWE … [Read more...]

Obituary: Lawrence Lincoln Bausman

Lawrence Lincoln Bausman

This past summer, I traveled to Steamboat Rock, Iowa, to meet Janice, the granddaughter of Lawrence Lincoln Bausman. I had a lot of fun discussing Bausman history and seeing her genealogy treasures.  Lawrence was a brother of Nicholas Bausman Jr, my maternal grandfather's grandfather.
