Obituary: Caroline (Hebenstreit) Stephan

Headstone: Anna Caroline (Hebenstreit) Stephan

When I was back in Scales Mound in October, I discovered several obituaries in my Grandma Davis' genealogy files.  I assume she "inherited" them from Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman after she passed in 1974.  Anyway, I'm glad Grandma kept them and didn't toss'em since Caroline Hebenstreit's is almost 100 years old. Obituary: Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman

Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman

Catherine married Nicholas Bausman Jr on January 26, 1886, at St. Matthew's Parsonage in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. She spent her married life in Scales Mound, Illinois, and they raised five children: Gertrude, Clement, Pearl, … [Read more...]

He is buried in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. His daughter, Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman, was my g-g-grandmother and she was married to Nicholas Bausman Jr. The picture of Vitus Hebenstreit was received from Kay Wilson, a contact I met through ancestry.com. The obituary is from my … [Read more...]
