Nicholas and Mary (Casper) Bausman

Nicholas Bausman Sr. is my ggg-grandfather.  This past summer I had the opportunity to meet his great-granddaughter Janice who lives in Iowa. She's a genealogy enthusiast and had a typed transcription of Nicholas Bausman Sr's obituary, originally published in the Galena Gazette. The obituary lists his marriage to Mary Casper as occurring in 1849 in Pennsylvania. I've seen that marriage date before and it's wrong.  They married 15 February 1852 in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, as listed in Book A of Jo Daviess County, Illinois, Marriages. Headstone: Nicholas Sr and Mary (Casper) Bausman

Nicholas Bausman Sr's of Guilford Township, Illinois, appeared in the "Portrait and Biographical Album of Jo Daviess and Carroll Counties, Illinois" (1889), p. 444. Nicholas Sr. was my ggg-grandfather and was married to Mary Casper.  He died in 1907; he was buried on their land, near Scales Mound, Illinois. Enjoy his biography! Family History: Jacob and Christina (Casper) Hess

My mom has binders filled with interesting information.  I've gone through them several times, and still find things. How do I miss this stuff? My discovery of the family history of Jacob Sr and Christina (Casper) Hess is one of these interesting finds.  My mother received this from her parents; I'm not sure when they got it. My mom gave me another obituary; she has quite a few in her possession. There is no citation. This is for Nicholas Bausman Jr, son of Nicholas Sr. and Mary (Casper) Bausman.  He was married to Catherine Hebenstreit. I'm not including a newspaper image.  It's a bit long and I didn't feel like manipulating the image into multiple columns.
