Lawrence Lincoln Bausman was a younger brother of Nicholas Bausman Jr, my maternal grandfather’s grandfather. Lawrence was the eighth of ten children born to Nicholas Sr. and Mary (Casper) Bausman. I learned quite a bit about Lawrence after meeting his granddaughter when I visited Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Lawrence was born 31 January 1862 in Guilford Township, Jo Daviess county, Illinois.
