These are the daughters of Nicholas Jr. and Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman. From left to right, standing are Pearl, Gertrude and Viola.  Hazel is sitting. Viola was my maternal grandfather's mother. I believe the photo was taken about 1898 or 1899 since Gertrude (the oldest) was born in 1887, Pearl in 1890, Viola in 1893, and Hazel in November 1896. I found the marriage announcement in genealogical files at Grandma Davis' house.  The citation is unknown. I've been wanting to visit Singer Catholic Cemetery in Guilford Twp, Illinois.  Clement, the infant brother of my great-grandmother, Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman, is buried here. I tried to find this cemetery by myself but was unable.  Fortunately, my mom's friend Tom Townsend had been to the cemetery and graciously volunteered to take my parents and me. My visit to Singer Catholic Cemetery in Oct 2011 revealed a cemetery in major need of brush removal and trimming around the headstones. Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman was my gg-grandmother. She was born December 23, 1863, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin to Vitus and Bertha (Schafer) Hebenstreit. She had four siblings, two  identified: Andrew and Anna Caroline.  I assume her other siblings died in infancy.  Until reading Vitus Hebenstreit's obituary, I was unaware of these children. Catherine married Nicholas Bausman Jr on January 26, 1886, at St. Matthew's Parsonage in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. My discovery of the family history of Jacob Sr and Christina (Casper) Hess is one of these interesting finds.  My mother received this from her parents; I'm not sure when they got it. Hazel Bausman, daughter of Nicholas Jr. and Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman, and a sister of my great-grandmother, Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman.  Her other siblings were Gertrude, Clement, Pearl and Viola. Hazel died on November 20, 1929, in a car accident.  Hazel is buried in Scales Mound Township Cemetery, Scales Mound, Illinois. I have several obituaries for my great-grandmother, Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman.  She was the daughter of Nicholas Jr and Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman.  Her first husband, Percy Davis, was my great-grandfather.  She married her second husband, Herb Hickman, in 1956 at age 63. Viola died January 20, 1974, in Cuba City, Wisconsin.  She's buried in Scales Mound Township Cemetery (also referred to as Citizens Cemetery) in Scales Mound, Illinois. The first notice appeared on page 3 of the Galena Daily Gazette, Friday evening edition, on April 16, 1943.  (I do not have an image.) Gertrude (Bausman) Schoenhard was the daughter of Nicholas Jr and Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman and a sister to my great-grandmother, Viola (Bausman) Davis Hickman. I don't really know anything about Gertrude or her family, except that my grandfather, Stanley Davis, enjoyed visiting his South Dakota cousins.  I've seen a few pictures from those visits! This is for Nicholas Bausman Jr, son of Nicholas Sr. and Mary (Casper) Bausman.  He was married to Catherine Hebenstreit.
