Mrs. Joseph Temperly of Hazel Green Dies on Monday
Mrs. Joseph (Lovella M.) Temperly of Hazel Green passed away unexpectedly Monday evening at the Cuba City Medical Center where she was taken after suffering a stroke at her home in the early forenoon.
Born in Jo Daviess county on May 16, 1885, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Hicks) Davis. She received her education in the rural school at Council Hill Station. On April 22, 1903, she was united in marriage with Joseph Temperly of Hazel Green. They farmed in the Hazel Green area until 1940 when they retired and moved into town.
She is survived by a son, Russell of Hazel Green; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Laban Davis, of Apple River.
Her husband preceded her in death on October 21, 1955.
The funeral service was held this afternoon (Thursday) at 3 p.m. at the Nash Funeral Home with the Rev. David L. Taylor, minister of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in the Hazel Green Cemetery. The casket bearers were Alvin, David and Stanley Davis, Marion Schmidt, Arthur and William Hicks.
