Rose (Strelesky) Weber was born on December 20, 1873, in Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin. She was the second of nine children born to Frank and Fannie (Hainey) Strelesky.  (Other spellings: Streletzky and Streletsky) She was the sister of my great-grandfather, John Joseph Strelesky.  Her other siblings: Agnes, Marie, Amelia, Lavina, Albert, and Alexander. One sibling’s name remains unidentified, being born between 1880 and dying before 1900.

Rose married Joseph Christoph Weber on September 22, 1893, in Chicago, Illinois. Together they had nine children. I know the names of eight: Frank, Marian, Lenora, Josephine, Joseph Jr, Amiel, Amelia, and John Henry. An unidentified boy died before 1900. She died on July 15, 1936 in Cheyenne, Laramie County, Wyoming. She’s buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne.

Mrs. Rose Weber Taken by Death

Mrs. Rose Weber, 62, died at the Weber ranch home, six miles west of Cheyenne on the Lincoln Highway, Wednesday night following an illness of two weeks’ duration.

Mrs. Weber had been a resident of the Cheyenne vicinity the last five years, coming here from Grand Rapids, Mich.

Funeral services will be at the ranch of her daughter, Mrs. James Morton, on the Happy Jack road, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. H. M. Pingree will probably conduct the services. Burial arrangements have not been made.

Mrs. Weber is survived by four sons, Frank of Muskegon, Mich.; J. C. of Grand Rapids; John and Amial of Cheyenne; and four daughters, Mrs. Whitney DeCuir, Mrs. Orville Kinnamon, Mrs. Harry Berg and Mrs. James Morton, all of Cheyenne.
