Margaret Jane (Hicks) Davis was  my great-great grandmother, and the wife of John B. Davis.  Her parents were Henry Hicks and Hester Ingram.

Margaret was born on June 17, 1843 in Guilford Twp, Jo Daviess Co, Illinois.  She died June 14, 1915 in Council Hill, Jo Daviess Co, Illinois.

Margaret and John had six children: Estella, Alvin, Laban, John, Lovella, and Percival.

The announcement of her death appeared in the Galena paper on Tuesday evening, June 15, 1915.

Mrs. J.B. Davis Dies at Home on Monday Night

Mrs. J.B. Davis died at her home in Council Hill Monday night at 11:45 o’clock at the age of 72 years. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, namely, Alvin, Laban, Percy, John,Mrs. Joseph Temperly of Shullsburg, Wisc., and Mrs. Brew of Kansas City, Mo. The funeral services will be held at 9:30 Wednesday morning to the church at Council Hill Station at 10 o’clock. Interment in the Scales Mound Cemetery.
