Obituary for Martha (Karberg) Schmidt, daughter of John and Wilhelmine “Minnie” (Bohnsack) Karberg.

Martha was born on October 8, 1889, in Thompson Twp, Jo Daviess Co, Illinois. She died May 30, 1970, in Elizabeth, Jo Daviess, Illinois. Interment made at Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth.

Mrs. Allen Schmidt

Elizabeth – Mrs. Allen (Matha) Schmidt of Elizabeth died Saturday night in Galena Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Schmidt, a lifelong Jo Daviess County resident, was born Oct. 8, 1889, in Thompson Township, Jo Daviess County, daughter of John and Minnie (Bohnsack) Karberg. She was married to Allen Schmidt in Schapville. He died in 1931.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lincoln (Erma) Boettner of Elizabeth; a son, Sheldon of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Louisa) Miller of Warren and Mrs. Leo (Hattie) Hanft of Galena.

Private funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Nadig Funeral Home, Elizabet. The Rev. Richard Wang, pastor of First United Methodist Church here, will officiate. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
