Louis Bausman was the ninth child born to Nicholas Sr. and Mary (Casper) Bausman. The tenth child, Jacob, died in infancy.  The youngest son to live to adulthood, I don’t know much about Louis, except for what I have gleaned from official records.  Louis was a brother of Nicholas Bausman Jr, my maternal grandfather’s grandfather.

Louis was born November 1863 in Guilford Township, Jo Daviess county, Illinois. He married Ida Agnes Zeal, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Blackmore) Zeal, on 11 January 1900 in Millbrig, Jo Daviess County, Illinois. O.J. Simmons, Methodist, officiated.

They began their married life in Scales Mound, Guilford Township, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, before eventually moving to Minnesota.  He and Ida raised four children:

  • Floyd Zeal Bausman (1901 – 1973)
  • Lyman LeRoy Bausman (1903 – 1994)
  • Ethel Viola (Bausman) Williams (1905 – 1977)
  • Marvin Louis Bausman (1920 – 1990)

Louis was a lifelong farmer, who died 05 May 1930 in Dodge, Minnesota. Interment made at Byron Cemetery in Kalmar Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota.

About 1933,  Ida remarried Henry Parks, a widower. Henry died 19 July 1945 in Olmsted County, Minnesota.  Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to determine when she died or where she is buried.
