He married (2) HENRIETTA ELIZABETH DOOSE in 1905 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, daughter of John R. Doose and Anna Margaret Westphalen. She was born on 19 March 1878 in Evanston, Cook County, Illinois. (Henrietta Dooseʹs year of birth varies between the 1880, 1900, and 1910 census and her death certificate. Her death certificate DOB is noted, even though I believe she was either born in 1873 or 1874.). She died on 18 September 1917 in Corson County, South Dakota. According to the death certificate, she died of “spasms due to taking a large dose of medication to induce abortion.”

He married (3) SUSAN C. LENSING on 10 July 1918 in Alta Vista, Chickasaw County, Iowa. (She was Ernest and Henrietta Lightcapʹs housekeeper.), daughter of Henry B. Lensing and Mary Bauhaus. She was born on 12 February 1885 in Lawler, Chickasaw County, Iowa. She died on 12 October 1975 in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa. She is buried at Mount Calvary Cemeteryin Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.
