These are the daughters of Nicholas Jr. and Catherine (Hebenstreit) Bausman. From left to right, standing are Pearl, Gertrude and Viola.  Hazel is sitting. Viola was my maternal grandfather’s mother.

I believe the photo was taken about 1898 or 1899 since Gertrude (the oldest) was born in 1887, Pearl in 1890, Viola in 1893, and Hazel in November 1896.

I shot this photo when I visited Steamboat Rock, Iowa, in June 2012.  When my mom saw the picture, she immediately recognized her grandmother Viola, saying it looked just like her.
